summer speech #5

Two Wednesdays ago, SJ had his speech session.  His therapist reviewed some homework he had trouble with.  On Identifying Synonyms, he was able to correctly answer 10 of them on his own.  With prompting, he correctly answered 3.  He still had trouble with the remaining three.  Those three were courage, calm and border.

She also reviewed a worksheet where SJ has to choose a correct definition for a boldfaced word.  With her assistance, he was able to correctly choose babble's definition.  She assigned him another worksheet on this subject for homework.

She talked to him about our upcoming vacation and he told her he was excited to go.

She began a worksheet on Identifying Irrelevant Information in Sentences.  They did 4 together and he is to finish the remainder for homework.  Here is one of the sentences.

I'm pretty sure that today is Monday.  SJ had to tell her that I'm pretty sure is the irrelevant information.

She also assigned him a worksheet on Using Adverbs.  He needs to choose an adverb from the word bank to complete each sentence.

For example:  thoroughly, rarely and wearily.
Beth looked ________ at the huge pile of laundry.  SJ will need to use wearily as the correct adverb.

We have not done the homework yet (we will get to it tomorrow).  He was in no mood to do homework on vacation.

Since we were going away, he skipped speech therapy on July 24th.  He will be returning to speech therapy on July 31st.
