summer reading tutoring #8

Last Thursday, SJ had his last reading tutoring session of the summer.  I had to work that morning, so I had Super Pappy running the kid errands.

I dropped off SJ at Mrs. Banks house on my way to work.  I told my dad to pick him up at 10 a.m.  I was a little concerned that he would not find her house, so I called her around 10:30.  My dad did pick him up on time.  What a relief!

Since I had Mrs. Banks on the phone, I asked her how the session went.  She said he was a little resistant at first.  He wanted her to give "him a break".  She reminded him that he would have a few weeks off.  That settled him down.

They did a few more chapters of The Island: Survival.  She said SJ was a little worried about not finishing the novel.  She reminded him that she would be tutoring him again and they could continue the novel then.  He seemed fine with that.

They also worked on a Look and Find sheet where he had to answer some questions.  This is the picture.

Here are a few of the questions with his answers.

1. What is on the edge on the pool? Penguin and sunscreen
2. What helps the kids see underwater? Goggles
3. What depth would you guess the water is? 5 ft
4. What has flags? The house
5. How many rings do you count? 3

Overall, she was very happy with the effort that SJ put in the summer.  I am happy that he hopefully didn't lose any skills over the summer.
